A crash that closed parts of the Howard Frankland Bridge on Tuesday ended with one man stabbing another, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.   According to FHP, the incident involved three cars. It started with one man stopped in the travel lanes, slumped over in his vehicle, and ended with another man stabbing him multiple times.   FHP said it happened just before 9:30 a.m. and led to parts of the road being closed for three hours.

Lora Wood loves photographing flamingos so much that she drove from Jacksonville to see the ones that ended up in the Bay Area, including Peaches, who is hanging out at Fort De Soto State Park.  “We need to keep them around. They are a Florida staple,” said Wood.  Lora says she doesn’t mind that Audubon Florida put a tracker on Peaches so they can follow her travels and know what habitats must be protected.

A Plant City family is dead after their SUV was hit by a freight train going 55 mph.   Sheriff Chad Chronister said Saturday night that the SUV flipped several times and violently ejected five people, including at least two children.   It was later confirmed Sunday afternoon that the number of people dead increased to six, including three children.

The Hernando County Fire Rescue is on the scene of a single-vehicle crash where the vehicle crashed into a residence and fell into a pool in the 300 block of Keltner Ct.  HCFR said the driver was successfully extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

After an extensive four-day, around the clock investigation, Monday Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced the arrests of four people in connection to the murder of 15-year-old Quashawn Burgess, Jr.  Rashan Harris II of Bartow, Lilia Gonzalez of Winter Haven, Jase Govia of Winter Haven and Pierre Sauveur of Winter Haven all face a slew of charges. According to the sheriff’s office all of the suspects have extensive arrest histories.  “These folks have been in prison; they’ve been in jail. They've all got criminal histories and at the end of the day we have a 15-year-old kid that’s dead,” said Judd.
